“LOL = Love of Languages” says TorontoLanguages.com blogger

Mika, a new blogger at TorontoLanguages.com—and also a powerhouse in French, Polish, Silesian, German and Russian—offers a unique and incisive point of view after visiting one of our French and Spanish corners.

A familiar language in an unfamiliar place is like an instant cure for homesickness, she says.

She raises the question, tongue-in-cheek (lol= love of languages), will your next words in a foreign language hold the secret to immortality? Apparently those who participate at our events act like they do—and that’s the best compliment we could hope for.

Even without praise for Diskuto, I’m looking forward to more of Mika’s captivating writing for its own sake. It’s really good. See her post here.

Pat founded Diskuto so he could keep meeting amazing people and keep speaking new languages he learned. He was born and grew up in Toronto, the most multilingual city on Earth. He speaks one language well (English), two languages passably (French, Italian), three languages badly (German, Spanish, Russian), and six languages hardly at all (Latin, Ancient Greek, Arabic; Mandarin, Japanese, Portuguese). He can read HTML, CSS and PHP but it’s hard to have a conversation in those. He is also the editor of torontolanguages.com.
